Kohimarama and St Heliers Foreshores

Tamaki Drive extends along the Waitemata Harbour shoreline for 9 kilometres eastwards from Auckland’s CBD to St Heliers Bay. This coastline is one of the most popular scenic and recreational open space destinations in the Auckland region.

The redevelopment of both the Kohimarama and St Heliers esplanade reserves involved the upgrade of the foreshore areas to promote and facilitate recreational access and use of the areas with the creation of beachfront promenades. Continuity and cohesion between the adjacent beachfronts is provided by the use of common elements and detailing, while local character is reinforced through utilisation of traditional features and materials in combination with distinctive custom design details.
