Ambury Regional Park

Nestled on the shore of the Manukau Harbour, Ambury Regional Park is a working farm, an important education centre and a birdwatchers paradise with a volcanic history.

The park’s location on the Manukau Harbour coastline and the open space linkages to the wider coastal environment and areas of interest including the Otuataua Stonefields and Mangere Mountain has resulted in increased recreational demand.

The proximity of the park to central Auckland makes it easily accessible to a large population. The parks regional significance in terms of cultural heritage is a strong driver as well as the parks importance as a working farm and educational facility.

LA4 prepared a master plan for the park to portray a vision for the development and future management of the park in recognition of its landscape, natural and cultural heritage values while providing valuable recreational opportunities for a growing population.
