Mutukaroa - Hamlins Hill

Mutukaroa - Hamlins Hill is the largest non-volcanic hill in the Auckland area, occupying 48 hectares between the suburbs of Mount Wellington and Penrose. It is culturally, visually and physically significant to the Auckland landscape, acting as a reference point and giving this area of the isthmus identity.

LA4 initially prepared a management plan for Mutukaroa - Hamlins Hill in 2001. This was followed by the preparation of concept landscape development plans to maximise the recreational opportunities the park has to offer.

An extensive consultation process was undertaken with user and interest groups including Auckland City Council, Auckland Regional Council, iwi, Forest and Bird, Watercare Services, mountain bike clubs and graziers.
